Reflecting on a Year of Progress for Suffolk County

As we gather to celebrate the holiday season—whether lighting the menorah for Hanukkah, decorating the Christmas tree and celebrating Christ’s birth, or simply enjoying time with loved ones—it’s an ideal moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together over the past year. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to represent Suffolk County in Congress and to serve the greatest nation the world has ever known.

This year has been one of action and results for our district, with significant milestones that showcase what can be achieved through hard work, collaboration, and a commitment to Long Island values.

One of the highlights of this year was the signing of my Disaster Contract Improvement Act, the first piece of legislation I authored to become law. This bipartisan effort ensures that taxpayer dollars are safeguarded from waste, fraud, and abuse during recovery efforts after natural disasters. With Suffolk County no stranger to storms and emergencies, this law represents a tangible step toward better protecting our community and the resources we depend on.

Beyond this, I am proud to have passed nine bills through the House of Representatives aimed at strengthening small businesses, securing our borders, protecting our environment, and supporting our Veterans. These bills represent the issues that matter most to our community, and I remain dedicated to shepherding them through the legislative process and onto the President’s desk.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about my new role on the House Appropriations Committee in the upcoming 119th Congress. This position provides an incredible opportunity to ensure that federal dollars are allocated fairly and directed toward projects that directly benefit Suffolk County. From infrastructure upgrades to environmental initiatives, I’m committed to making the case for investments that will keep our community thriving.

Of course, some of the most impactful work happens not in the halls of Congress but right here in Suffolk County.

My constituent services team has closed more than 1,400 cases this year and over 3,500 since I was sworn in. Whether it’s resolving issues with Social Security, Veterans Affairs, or passports, we’ve been able to help neighbors navigate federal challenges. If you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency, I encourage you to contact my office at (631) 289-1097.

This year’s progress would not have been possible without the engagement and support of the Suffolk County community. From local events to constituent meetings, I’ve been continually inspired by the dedication, resilience, and generosity of the people I represent.

As we look forward to 2025, my focus remains on delivering results that reflect the needs and values of Suffolk County. Whether it’s fighting for small business growth, advocating for environmental protection, or ensuring our Veterans receive the care they deserve, I’m committed to standing up for what matters most to our families and communities.

This holiday season, I wish you and your family a joyous Hanukkah, a Merry Christmas, and a season filled with peace, love, and hope. Let’s continue working together to make Suffolk County an even better place to call home in the years to come.
