Following LaLota’s Protest, Biden Announces End Date for COVID National Emergency
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, February 1st, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement after President Biden announced the COVID-19 emergency declarations would officially end on May 11th, 2023. This announcement comes six days after LaLota rejected an invitation to the White Housewhich required being subject to excessive and unnecessary COVID-19 protocols.
“In September, President Biden told 60 Minutes that the ‘pandemic is over’. After backtracking on this statement, he’s willing to end the pandemic, but not until May. It is ridiculous that this has not already happened. To put an end to this insanity I was proud to join my House colleagues in passing the Pandemic is Over Act to show the American people that their government is back to normal.”
