LaLota Joins Bipartisan Coalition to Fund Military, Support Allies, and Avert Shutdown

March 22, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) voted to fully fund the government, pay our troops, fund border security measures, support our allies worldwide, and once again avert a government shutdown.

“With Democrats controlling the White House and Senate and Republicans controlling the House, I understand a bipartisan compromise is necessary to keep our federal government working for the people. While no compromise, including this bill, is perfect, the agreement will boost our military, pay our troops, support our allies, and avert a harmful and useless government shutdown,” said LaLota. “As a Navy Veteran, our national security is of the utmost importance to me and this bill ensures our families are safe. As we begin the FY25 funding process, I will work with all of my colleagues to ensure we responsibly fund the government, reduce spending, and protect important programs so many Americans rely on every day.”

Earlier this month, LaLota voted for a separate government funding package that included over $150 million in direct federal funding to benefit Suffolk County.

This package included appropriations bills related to Defense, State and Foreign Operations, the Legislative Branch, Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, and Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
