LaLota Named Vice Chair of Homeland Subcommittee Overseeing TSA and Coast Guard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, February 1st, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement after being named as Vice-Chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security.
“I’m honored to be selected as the Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee,” said LaLota. “In addition to being surrounded by water on three sides, our congressional district is home to several airports which connect us to the world. Enhancing security at our ports of entry is a top priority of mine this Congress and this position will allow me to better advocate for the men and women serving our country in the Coast Guard and the TSA who are charged with keeping our country safe.”
“Emanating from Long Island where the surface transportation on roads, rail, or water is vital to the nation’s economic security and well-being, Congressman LaLota understands that threats against our transportation sector are only evolving, not waning,” said Rep. Mark Green (TN-07), Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee. “Congressman LaLota has committed his life to safeguard our nation and we will put his powerful experience to work as Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee. Strengthening America’s transportation and maritime systems are vital to our homeland security and I am thrilled to have him serve in this leadership role.”
“As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, I look forward to working together with Vice-Chair LaLota and my colleagues to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its disastrous open border policies that have endangered our nation and threatened our national security,” said Rep. Carlos Giménez (FL-28), Chair of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security.
