Rep. LaLota Champions Compassion and Care with Support for Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

January 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC– Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) released the following statement after voting to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act(link is external), which ensures that infants who survive abortion procedures receive the same medical care and legal protections as any other newborn.

"While our nation remains divided on abortion, there is a fundamental truth we must all embrace: a newborn's right to life and medical care transcends this divide. It is with great conviction that I support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act—a common-sense legislation deeply rooted in the American values of compassion and responsibility,” said LaLota. “This critical bill guarantees that any infant born alive, even in the case of a failed abortion, receives the medical attention they rightfully deserve, while also ensuring that healthcare providers uphold a strict standard of care. It’s a measure of humanity that aligns with the principles most Americans hold dear.”
