LaLota Votes to Impeach Secretary Mayorkas
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County), a member of the Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement after voting in favor of impeaching Secretary Mayorkas for the second time in two weeks.
“Secretary Mayorkas has willfully and systematically ignored our nation’s laws and done more damage to America than any other cabinet Secretary in our nation’s history,” said LaLota. “Every day he is in office puts more American families at risk. Now that the House has impeached him, the Senate should move swiftly to convict and remove. Then, our nation can be stronger and our borders more secure.”
Background:
Last week, LaLota voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.
LaLota previously questioned witnesses and highlighted the failures of Mayorkas’ catch-and-release policies.
LaLota again called for the impeachment and removal from office of Secretary Mayorkas on the House Floor.
Since coming to office in 2023, LaLota has visited the U.S.-Mexico border three times to see the border crisis and hear directly from local leaders, community members, and Law Enforcement.
