LaLota Appointed to House Armed Services Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, January 17th, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement after being appointed to the House Armed Services Committee.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the House Armed Services Committee. The best job I ever had was serving as a young Naval Officer, deploying overseas three times with some of our nation’s bravest, most dedicated, and selfless men and women. Now, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I will be in a prime position to help give our nation’s fighting men and women the policies and resources they need to remain the most lethal fighting force the world has ever known,” said LaLota. “Moreover, this coveted assignment will help me better serve my district. New York’s First District is home to the 106th Rescue Wing of the New York Air National Guard, the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, an active veteran community, and over 150 defense and aerospace companies that generate $3 billion in economic activity and thousands of good-paying jobs. I look forward to working with Chairman Rogers, Ranking Member Smith, and my colleagues on the Committee to fulfill our constitutional duty to provide for our nation’s common defense.”
“I am thrilled that Congressman LaLota has been recommended by the Steering Committee to serve on the House Armed Services Committee,” said Rep. Mike Rogers (AL-03), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. “As a U.S. Navy veteran and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Congressman LaLota will bring vital insight and knowledge to our committee. I look forward to the House Republican Conference ratifying the Steering Committee’s recommendation.”
