WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, February 9th, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement announcing his appointment to the House Small Business Committee and his selection as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure.
“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Small Business Committee and to serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure,” said LaLota. “Long Island is home to so many incredible small businesses and hard-working entrepreneurs who serve our community and provide top-notch goods and services. I will always fight to ensure that Main Street gets a fair shake and look forward to using my Chairmanship and position on the committee to better the lives of small businesses across the country.”
“As a decorated 11-year Navy Veteran, Congressman LaLota knows the true meaning of public service,” said Rep. Roger Williams (TX-25), Chairman of the House Small Business Committee. “I am confident his experience will bring a unique perspective as he chairs the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure in the 118th Congress. I look forward to the work he will do on behalf of our nation’s small businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators.”
Background:
The Small Business Committee has oversight and legislative jurisdiction over the Small Business Administration and its programs, as well as provides assistance to and protection of small businesses, including financial aid and the participation of small business enterprises in federal procurement and government contracts. The committee also oversees matters related to the Regulatory Flexibility Act and the Paperwork Reduction Act. The jurisdiction extends to other programs and initiatives addressing small businesses outside of the confines of these two specific acts.
In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure, LaLota was also selected to serve on the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access.
Last month, LaLota was appointed to the Committees on Armed Services and Homeland Security.
