LaLota, Deluzio Lead Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Navy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Nick LaLota (NY-01) and Chris Deluzio (PA-17), both U.S. Naval Academy graduates and Navy Veterans, announced the introduction of H.Res.742 – Recognizing the 250th birthday of the United States Navy.
The resolution honors the founding of the U.S. Navy on October 13, 1775, and pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of generations of Sailors who have defended America’s freedom, projected strength abroad, and safeguarded democracy for two and a half centuries.
“I am proud to lead this bipartisan resolution honoring the brave men and women who serve in our Navy, past and present. As a Navy Veteran and Naval Academy graduate, I know firsthand their dedication and sacrifice,” said Congressman Nick LaLota. “For 250 years, the Navy has safeguarded America’s security, strengthened our prosperity, and projected freedom across the globe. This resolution not only celebrates the Navy’s proud history and bright future, but also pays tribute to the generations of Sailors whose service and sacrifice have made our nation stronger.”
“The United States has the best Navy in the world, and two-and-a half centuries in, it’s still going strong,” said Congressman Deluzio. “Today, we mark the Navy’s 250th birthday and honor the service and sacrifice of generations of Navy men and women who bravely served. I am always proud to call myself a Navy guy, and I will keep up the fight in Congress to prepare our Navy for the next 250 years.”
LaLota and Deluzio also serve as Co-Chairs of the House’s Navy and Marine Corps Caucus and as Vice Chairs of the For Country Caucus, a bipartisan group of military Veterans in Congress committed to working across the aisle to strengthen national security and support Veterans.
