LaLota Provides Update on War in Israel

October 10, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, New York First Congressional District Representative Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) provided an update related to the ongoing atrocities and war in Israel. To date, LaLota has reiterated his unequivocal support of Israel, helped introduce two resolutions condemning the terrorist attacks, sent a letter to President Biden demanding we reevaluate the Administration’s relationship with Iran, and maintained contact with a Suffolk County Police Officer present in Israel when the fighting broke out.

Earlier this week, while Congressman LaLota traveled to D.C. for official House business, LaLota’s Director of Constituent Services, Jenna Donohue, and other staff joined hundreds of Long Islanders at the Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island’s Long Island Stands with Israel rally at the Suffolk Y JCC in Commack. The event featured several local elected officials and religious leaders who spoke in strong support of Israel and efforts to bring any Long Islanders home.

“The attacks on innocent Israeli citizens this weekend, committed by Hamas and funded by Iran, were nothing short of terrorism and cowardice. I am proud to join a bipartisan coalition introducing two resolutions condemning the attacks, reaffirming my unequivocal support for Israel, and holding Iran accountable for their role in funding and coordinating these acts of terror. To further hold Iran accountable, I sent a letter to President Biden demanding the Administration re-evaluate current policy towards Iran, as these attacks come just weeks after the Administration signed off on a $6 billion transfer to Tehran,” said LaLota. “I have also been able to personally speak with a Suffolk County Police Officer who was training in Israel when the attacks occurred. My team and I are actively working with the State Department to bring him and any other Suffolk County residents home to their families. I would strongly encourage any Long Islanders who are in Israel or know someone there to contact my office immediately at 631-289-1097.”
