LaLota Receives Committee Assignments

January 18, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, January 18th, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released this statement after his appointment to the House Homeland Security Committee. Earlier this week, LaLota was also appointed to the House Armed Services Committee (HASC)(link is external). To read LaLota’s statement on HASC, click HERE.

“At a time when our country must act to secure our porous southern border while also remaining vigilant against terrorist attacks within our borders, I’m honored to have been chosen to serve on the House Homeland Security Committee. This position will allow me to be a voice for the thousands of First Responders and Law Enforcement Officers serving to keep New York and our great nation safe,” said LaLota. “The Biden Administration’s reckless open-border agenda and blue states’ shortsighted sanctuary city policies have caused every state to become a border state. I am looking forward to working with Chairman Green and others on the committee to hold the Administration accountable and make our country safer.”

“With a long history of protecting and defending our nation in the U.S. Navy, Congressman LaLota brings the experiences and perspective critical to our mission on the committee,” said Rep. Mark Green (TN-07), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. “As a Surface Warfare Officer, Congressman LaLota has witnessed firsthand the bad actors worldwide attempting to upend the American way of life. He knows that we cannot risk letting our guard down when it comes to securing our homeland. I am thrilled to welcome Congressman LaLota to the Committee on Homeland Security and look forward to his leadership on strengthening our national security.”
