LaLota Votes for Modernized Healthcare and Benefits for Veterans and Military Families
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 8371, the bipartisan Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, a bipartisan bill that would reform and improve the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and empower Veterans as they begin their transition back into civilian life as well as improve programs for those and their families who transitioned already.
“As a Navy Veteran, I was proud to support the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act. This legislation honors our promise to the men and women who served by expanding access to the care and benefits they have earned,” said LaLota. “Our Veterans deserve nothing less than modern, effective healthcare and support systems tailored to their unique needs. Background:
The Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act encompasses several bipartisan and bicameral provisions to modernize the delivery of healthcare, benefits, and services at the VA, expand access to job training and employment opportunities, address veteran homelessness, cut through red tape for the GI Bill, increase transparency and accountability at the VA, and provide support for military families and caregivers.
