LaLota Votes to Protect American Taxpayers
January 9, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, January 9th, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) voted YES on H.R. 23, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act.
“America needs more border agents, not more IRS agents,” said LaLota. “Sending a government agency like the IRS after our families and neighbors is un-American, reckless, and wasteful. Long Island’s working families and small businesses deserve a government that works for them, not against them.”

Background:
- The Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act would prevent the Biden Administration from unleashing 87,000 new IRS agents on American families and small businesses.
- This bill would rescind all new IRS funding set aside to target working families and small businesses.
- According to the Congressional Budget Office, Democrat’s supercharged IRS will cause audit rates to “rise for all taxpayers” and a conservative analysis shows that returning audit rates to 2010 level would mean 1.2 million more audits with over 700,000 of those falling on taxpayers making $75,000 or less.
