LaLota Elected Vice Chair of Bipartisan Military Veteran “For Country" Caucus
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement after being named Vice Chair of the For Country Caucus, a bipartisan group of military Veterans in the U.S. House of Representatives dedicated to strengthening national security, supporting Veterans, and fostering principled leadership in Congress.
"I am honored to serve as Vice Chair of the bipartisan For Country Caucus for the 119th Congress. As a Navy Veteran, I understand the values of service, teamwork, and putting country before party—principles that guide our work in Congress,” said LaLota. “The For Country Caucus unites Republican and Democrat Veterans to advance policies that strengthen our national security, support our Veterans, and enhance military readiness. This caucus has a proven track record of delivering results for those who serve, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure we continue making a meaningful impact for our Veterans, military, and nation."
Background:
The For Country Caucus is a bipartisan group in the U.S. House of Representatives composed of military Veterans who prioritize working across party lines to advance policies that strengthen national security, support veterans and their families, and promote bipartisan cooperation. Members of the caucus are committed to putting country over party, focusing on pragmatic solutions, and upholding the values of service and leadership they embraced in the military.
The caucus typically works on legislation related to national defense, Veterans’ affairs, and policies that reinforce democratic institutions. It seeks to foster civility in Congress and ensure that government functions effectively for the American people.
Reps. Jake Ellzey (R-TX) and Don Davis (D-NC) will serve as the Co-Chairs of the Caucus, and Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-PA) will serve as a Vice Chair along with Rep. LaLota.
LaLota has a track record of championing legislation aligned with the caucus’ priorities. In January of 2025, Lalota introduced or co-sponsored five Veterans bills during the 119th Congress. In December of 2024, LaLota voted to pass the FY 2025 NDAA which fully funded our national defense to strengthen the U.S. military and deter adversaries while also providing a historic pay increase for junior enlisted.
