LaLota Votes to Replenish American Resources and Support Allies Against America’s Adversaries
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Representative Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County), a Navy Veteran, underscored the significance of bipartisan legislation aimed at bolstering America's national security and global stability after voting YES on each bill in the national security supplemental.
“The bills we passed today will help replenish American stockpiles, counter China’s aggression, defeat Putin’s Russia, and support our ally Israel. As a Navy Veteran, I will always prefer sending bombs and bullets to our allies to defeat a common adversary if it means not having to put American soldiers in harm’s way. While it is incredibly important to address our nation’s staggering and growing debt, we must also preserve America’s national security. Evil must be dealt with head-on,” said LaLota. “I extend my sincere gratitude to Speaker Johnson for his unwavering dedication to advancing these critical measures and the bipartisan support underscores the importance of unity to address these challenges. Now, President Biden must show decisive leadership, support Israel, demand NATO meets the moment, and ensure our nation’s security. I will continue to work with my colleagues to put results over rhetoric and keep Americans safe at home and abroad.”

Background:
LaLota is a Navy Veteran who served three deployments in the Indo-Pacific, becoming familiar with the region and the need to take on China. He sits on the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees where he is a tireless advocate for our national defense and that of our allies.
The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act includes provisions to support Israel in its efforts to defend itself against Iran and its proxies; reimburse U.S. military operations in response to recent attacks; replenish the Iron Dome, Iron Beam, and David’s Sling defense systems’; support the procurement of advanced weapons systems, defense articles, and defense services through the Foreign Military Financing Program; enhance production and development of artillery and critical munitions; provide flexibility for transfers of defense articles to Israel from U.S. stockpiles; and prohibit funds to the pro-Hamas United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act includes provisions to continue efforts to counter communist China; ensure a strong deterrence in the region; develop submarine infrastructure; fund the Foreign Military Financing Program for Taiwan and other key regional allies; replenish defense articles and services provided to Taiwan; strengthen military capabilities in the region; and enhance the production and development of artillery and critical munitions.
The 21st Century Peace Through Strength Act includes provisions to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine; mandate sanctions against Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups; sanction ports and refineries that receive and process Iranian oil; restrict the export or re-export of U.S.-origin goods and technology to Iran; mandate sanctions on anyone involved in activity covered under the UN missile embargo on Iran; fully enforce human rights sanctions on Iran; require ByteDance to divest and sever ties from TikTok; declare international fentanyl trafficking a national emergency; and disrupt the ability of Hamas to fund terrorism.
The Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act includes provisions to defeat Vladimir Putin and Russia; replenish U.S. weapons, stocks, and facilities; support current military operations in the region; procure advanced weapons systems, defense articles, and defense services; increase oversight and accountability of aid and equipment provided to Ukraine; require European partners to pay their fair share through cost-matching requirements; and mandate agreement on repayment for economic support by Ukraine. While LaLota supported an amendment that would eliminate all non-military funding to Ukraine, it ultimately failed.
